may we also blow your minds...

for all you latecomers, there's been a lot of clamoring for that first rabble lp. and deservedly so. being just about the only cheerleader on the internet for this band, i will standby all my own personal hype of this record, and the second one, which i simply feel are both just about near perfect records, especially this one. alot of words could be used to describe the Rabble, terrifically unique, originally insane, monstrously danceable, indescribably catchy, indispensably modern, and just damn great. so check it out if you haven't yet. tell your friends. this one is a keeper.

clap - have you reached yet

wow, this LP is good. i mean shit, it's like all those '67 garage 45s where junior was flipping out mick jagger style, but failed to deliver a true stones jive, well maybe they never coulda quite done it then. cause Clap takes the big-lip snarl, and subverts it into their 1972 context. they are both totally punk and not punk at all. in the heart of the '72 psychedelic excess or overload they delvier a record of pure teenage grunt, but the difference between this punk record, and the punk records of '67 is why this is NOT really a punk record at all, cause see these mothers, can play, and write, and sing like real dudes. songs that move you in more ways than shuffling your clods and bopping your head. a turgid air of melancholy surrounds most of this, kinda gnaws at the whole thing, but delivers big bright moments of ecstacy too when the suburban jag hits home plate and sends your sympathies through a subtarranean nightmarish '72 haze. its like the '67 garage thing these boys held onto steeped in all the hippie shit and came out even more disoriented and downtrodden then ever before... but with a 70s ALBUM vibe!!! could you ask for more? could you? this is too damn good to believe. just listen to it.
